Hallowell, Maine – August 26, 2014 — Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce the featured speakers for the 2014 Blue Marble User Conference (BMUC) to be held in Calgary, which will be the first of two User Conferences this year. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organizations.
The Calgary User Conference will be held at the Delta Bow Valley Hotel on September 8th. A second User Conference will be held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on October 30, 2014 in Houston, Texas. In past years, the Blue Marble User Conferences have proven to be a great opportunity to learn more about new mapping techniques and to discuss upcoming features and functions of the software that will help users streamline their workflow as well as help to maximize software investment. BMUC is also a great event for networking with industry professionals and for providing the Blue Marble Team with feedback to ensure that they continue to deliver high-quality, customer-driven products.
The Calgary conference features four speakers from industry leaders including LMKR-GeoGraphix, Avenza Systems Inc., Suncor Energy, and DAT/EM Systems International. The Blue Marble Team will also demonstrate the latest features and functions found within Global Mapper version 16 (to be released in mid-September) and the Geographic Calculator 2014, SP1. The Blue Marble User Conference is a great opportunity to join the Blue Marble Team to see why so many consider Blue Marble software essential to their work as well as to learn what is next from the company.
Scott Oelfke, Product Manager of GIS and Data Management for LMKR-GeoGraphix will deliver a presentation on Exploiting GIS in Oil & Gas. Jonathan Critchley, Quality Assurance Specialist from Avenza Systems Inc. will speak on the topic of Using Global Mapper to Produce Maps for Mobile Devices. Alonzo de la Cruz, Geomatics Specialist for Suncor Energy will present a paper on Avoiding Disaster: Customizing the Blue Marble Data Source for Suncor Energy and Alissa Oder, who works in the Technical Documentation & Technical Support department at DAT/EM Systems International, will introduce a new Global Mapper extension that connects Global Mapper to DAT/EM Summit Evolution. DAT/EM Systems International develops products to efficiently extract and edit 3D vector terrain and object features from stereo imagery and point clouds.
“We are once again looking forward to meeting with our users and prospective users,” stated Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham. “We are excited to bring the BMUC to Calgary to learn from our users and share our ideas for the future of Blue Marble and GIS.”
