The Layer Projection tab is used to reinterpret
the raw vector data to a new projection. This is useful if the wrong projection
was selected for the dataset when it was loaded, or if the data set itself
indicated some incorrect data. This option is rarely used. For more information about specifying a projection see Projection
For Global Mapper users with access to the GeoCalc libraries, using GeoCalc Mode the Layer Projection
tab will allow users to browse the Geographic Calculator datasource for
Projections.
Global Mapper Tip: The Elevation
Units can be used to specify what elevation units that values in vector
data should use, if the elevation units are not explicitly specified in
the data. This is useful with 3D Vector Data, to specify the unit type
associated with 3D vector features or with ELEVATION attribute.
