Longitude Rotation

The Longitude Rotation datum shift method is a transformation on a two-dimensional or three-dimensional geographic coordinate system that changes the longitude values by a rotation value and leaves the latitude and elevation values unchanged.

A Longitude Rotation is used to account for the transformation needed when two datums are based on the same ellipsoid but have different prime meridians. Thus a Longitude Rotation datum shift should be defined such that the source and target datum are on the same ellipsoid, and such that the value of the rotation is equivalent to the difference between the two prime meridians.
