A DLS location is created with several core data components. The fields for the value are Meridian, Township, Range, Section, Legal Subdivision, offset corner, and offset value. The ordering of the fields can either follow the Standard Survey or Unique Well Identifier scheme.
Standard Survey ordering:
Corner reference, Survey order: Meridian, Township, Range, Section, "Legal Subdivision (Optional), Corner, Northing Offset, Easting Offset
Example with a corner offset: W5 088 03 13 01 NE/C -756.62 -185.20
Boundary reference, Survey order: Meridian, Township, Range, Section, Legal Subdivision (Optional), Boundary, Northing Offset, Easting Offset
Example with a boundary offset: W5 088 03 13 01 BDY 756.82 S 185.34 W
Unique Well Identifier ordering:
Corner reference, Unique Well Identifier order: Corner, Legal Subdivision (Optional), Section, Township, Range, Meridian, Northing Offset, Easting Offset
Example: NE/C 01 13 088 03 W5 -756.62 -185.20
Boundary reference, Unique Well Identifier order: Boundary, Legal Subdivision (Optional), Section, Township, Range, Meridian, Northing Offset, Easting Offset
