Gardiner, Maine — February 12, 2010 – Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) announces they will be exhibiting at the ESRI Petroleum User Group Conference in Houston, TX February 22nd and 23rd. Come visit booth 407 to see first hand all of the advanced data transformation methods our customers have come to expect from the Blue Marble toolkit. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software companies, universities, oil and gas companies, civil engineering, surveying, technology, enterprise GIS groups, government and military organizations.
The Geographic Calculator feature of the Blue Marble Desktop showcases two extensions to ArcGIS that enhance and expand the geodetic manipulation tools of ArcGIS. Users can now work with the Geographic Calculator ESRI Extension in the Arc Tool Box or ArcMap. The new Arc Tool Box features read and write support for ESRI Personal and Arc SDE Databases. The Spatial Connect Module 7.3 is an add-on module available through the Blue Marble Desktop 2.1 giving Calculator users the ability to read and write to ESRI Geodatabase, ArcSDE, and Personal and File Geodatabase along with Oracle Spatial and PostGIS native spatial database objects.
Stop by booth 407 and see demonstrations of the main features of this extension including:
- The ability to switch between geodetic definitions found in the Blue Marble GeoCalc XML data source and other existing geodetic definitions contained in ArcGIS
- Define and generate a custom PRJ using the Blue Marble coordinate system dialogues
- Compare data conversion results from ArcGIS projects in the Geographic Calculator
- Convert a point layer in the Geographic Calculator and add it as a layer in ArcGIS
“Blue Marble is known for bridging the gap between survey data and GIS, grid to geographic,” states Blue Marble’s Patrick Cunningham. “We have many new enhancements to the Blue Marble Desktop to enable that flow into the Arc environment. The PUG show is a great venue for sharing these new tools with our users.”
