Blue Marble Geographics to open satellite office in Brunswick, Maine, to accommodate expanding software development

Hallowell, Maine - January 23, 2020 - Blue Marble Geographics® announced today the opening of a new office in Brunswick, Maine, later this year to accommodate the company's continued growth, specifically in the areas of software development and testing.

The new office space, which is about a twenty-minute drive from Portland, will provide ample space for the company's current and future growth. The Portland area was selected for this expansion due to its reputation as a highly desirable place to live and its growing tech economy. The company has outgrown its headquarters in Hallowell, Maine, and has decided to open this satellite office to enable the ongoing expansion of its software development team. The Brunswick office will focus on research and development, as well as core software programming for 3D data visualization and processing, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and lidar processing. The corporate headquarters will remain in Hallowell, where the sales, marketing, and operations side of the business will continue to operate.

Blue Marble Geographics, a Maine-based developer of geographic information system (GIS) and geodetic software, provides products and services for working with GIS data in different formats and for addressing the many unique challenges associated with processing geospatial data. The company's products, including Global Mapper® and Geographic Calculator®, are sold worldwide.

Blue Marble Geographics has been in a rapid growth mode since the acquisition of Global Mapper® in 2011. In 2015, the company moved to a new building in Hallowell, but an increased demand for its GIS products worldwide has led it to outgrow this space. Currently, the company has 40 full-time employees but expects to expand this number to 75 within the next few years.

"This is an exciting time for us," says Patrick Cunningham, President and CEO of Blue Marble Geographics. "We have a very talented group of professionals working for us and intend to significantly grow our operations here in Maine in the next few years. By moving our development headquarters closer to Portland, we hope to attract and retain new technical talent."

Blue Marble has a number of immediate software development, testing, and tech support job openings, with additional positions to be added later in 2020. Employment opportunities, which are continually updated, are posted on the company's website: https://www.bluemarblegeo.com/about-us/careers.php
